Now I guage the time of remaining temperate temps by the sun's morning position on the Sandia Mountains. That hump to the right (south) of the tree beyond the wall is a marker.
Then the wildlife stops by for breakfast...
And departs
No sun-rise around here this morning! The El Niño is strong this time and we are having an unusually wet summer. 7 inches of rain to date this month where the average for the entire month is 2.25. Haven't seen the pond flow over the spillway in 15 or so years. This keeps up (it's raining right now after a 3" day yesterday and I had to dry off my chair under the awning this morning) and it just might make it this year.

DeleteThe cat w attitude (don't they all?) is a solar-powered nightlight for Michelle i couldn't pass up from The Martz (Walmart).
What do you feed that turtle? Tortoise I guess is correct, but the question remains the same. At any rate, looks like a lot of food! No mountains around here, so I use the side street that is open at the far end, and the sun rises there at the solstice. A sort of urban stonehenge.

DeleteThe turtle(s) have us trained. Preoccupied w the sun, it sat at my feet, waiting, until i noticed it. They get canned catfood.
Ah. Carnivorous. I thought they ate lettuce. Haha

DeleteThey're purportedly omnivores. They usually get whatever cat food is at hand or has been rejected by Bonsai, a.k.a.Trixie, the cat, but they also get left over bananas, grapes, cantalope, and lettuce. Interestingly, they have their preferences and will vigorously wipe at their mouth in a show of displeasure. Offered a different flavor, they may heartily dig in, demonstrating a discerning palate.
