Enough

Lack of greed has continually kept me from making as much as I could've. I've repeatedly sold too soon, when I thought enough was enough. But I admit that it's been hard to watch sums that could've been mine disappear.

Anticipating a surge, I began watching when the pre-market trading began at 2 a.m. I can't trade in the After Market, but I can in the pre-market and I've usually done well. But as I watched the climb from $63 - 66.72, I decided, at 4 a.m., to wait.

The drop had begun from 72.00. When I awoke at 11:30 it was at 67.66. At 67.74, with the day's increase at 19.81%, I sold. The auto pilot bumped me up to 67.75 and I made an additional $0.66.

I've yet to determine my profit, but it was William J. O'Neil wwho advised selling at the 20% mark.

Tapping the image will, as will the link above, take you to the Amazon site. (i'm not "monetized." It's a good book. Most libraries have a copy. For real-time insight, check out Haley Zhao's LEGS Meetup.)

I recouped the $600 loss when ZEPP plummeted and a few more. Enough.

  1. Your title says it all. Enough. Evolution has wired us to grab all we can get, but helpful evolution stops at procreation. It doesn't take into account the long-term picture. If it did we would have evolved out of cancers and other limiting issues long ago. Greed has an evolutionary benifit up to a point, but damnit! We don't need more food than we could ever eat in our lifetime. A small roof does just as good a job of sheltering as a large roof. And there comes a point when growing the bank account anymore is just - well, pointless. We seem to have forgotten the concept of 'take what you need and leave the rest'. But I'm not interested in SOXL, so if you want my share go for it!

And holy cow you've been prolific, post-wise, over the past couple days!

    1. Greg,

I undertook this endeavor to buy a house for One El. She's spent 30+ years renting half a duplex in the student ghetto since our parting in the early nineties.

I gnash my teeth at my lack of timing. It was amazing through the gallery years and enabled success beyond my dreams, though no money, only debt.

Now, having done everything except get rich, I figured i'd hunker down and have at it. This is SOXL's 3rd major drop. As mentioned, I've made dribs & drabs in the interims, but have yet to figure it out. Obviously, it's about patience.

The drops have been closer together so I'm thinking (hoping) I can last through a few. With compounded succeses, I *might* can pull it off...the house, that is. Staying awake from 2 - 7:30 a.m. to trade the Pre Mkt does nothing for the angina, though. It's bizarre...I feel I'm racing against time, but am still here after all these years (since the heart attack in 2020).

And you?!? Have you noticed an increase in a sense of urgency? Perhaps you're more settled. One El has been an ongoing concern.

  2. As for prolificacy, there's a lot happening & I need to get it documented. I KNOW i'll not be able to remember. Even in a month's time it, the memory, may be gone. It could be the ambien & clonazapam, but at least I'm getting some sleep.
