  1. Dammit! Now you've guilted me into getting my sketchbook out.

BTW, I think Georg should have put a gleam in the mouse's eye to create tension between the living creature and the dead fish.

    1. OMG!! Good eye!!! I hadn't noticed the mouse. I agree about the gleam; it would've done as you say.

  2. I think the mouse is looking at another mouse who's in the bread. Hope you can blow up the photo.

  3. I can't find your source. Wiki art doesn't have this painting. Anyway, the interior of the bread doesn't look quite right to me. Ha.

    1. JudithK!!!

I see what you see. I'm not sure where I got this image, but when I went hunting just now, it is the best. Most others are darker. It certainly looks as if there *could* be another mouse on the bread.

  5. My goodness. Thank you! This site has a little bit of zoom in available. And now, sad to say, a mouse doesn't show up for me. I think the shadows on the interior of the bread are just darker than I would have expected. Sigh. Well, it was a thought. And an exploration.....Thanks again.

    1. You're welcome! But I'm grateful to both you and Greg. Each time I've looked at this piece I've seen a little more.
