There hasn't been a winter this mild since 1976. It used to snow several times a year. The ski resort on the backside of The Credt used to open at the end of October or by mid-November. It stopped snowing in the 80s and the ski resort closed for good in the 90s.

A murder!

Two FITs...a 2008 & 2015. Never, EVER choose cars based on brother-in-law's opinion. I still can't believe we got the 2nd one.
Crows Chased Off By Roadrunner.

I can see a little snow on top of Mount Lemmon. That's close enough for me!
ReplyDeleteLOL!! We feel the same!
DeleteMichelle has two cat-sits today and was relieved not to have to take the other FIT. We keep snow tires on it for when it sticks. You're probably not intimidated, but even with snow tires Michelle dreads driving in it.
You must experience terrible cognitive dissonance having to keep from lauding your snow-less-ness over everyone back east. If you do, they're likely to show up on your doorstep.
DeleteSeems like everybody is getting some form of winter precipitation. How common is snow in Albuque?
ReplyDeleteIt's uncommon enough to be enjoyed until noon. By then everybody's had enough of navigating around the accidents.
DeleteWe often get a snow in mid-November, one about now and another, usually heavier, in March.
Once, back in the early '90s, soon after Michelle and I joined households, there was enough to build two 5' snow cats in the back yard. I'll see if Michelle can dig out the pictures.
A murder of crows for sure. Good grief. What got that started. No crows here in central
ReplyDeleteTX for this little snow, and only about a couple of inches..but it's still on the ground after a day...COLD. ..and not above freezing tomorrow either....
For decades crows have come to sit in the elm in our backyard and eat pecans they bring from somewhere.
DeleteA few weeks ago I saw the youngster, now nearing 13 or 14, throwing something into their yard that looked like corn. The crows seem to like it. I've never seen our road-runners (RRs) over there nor do the crows come over to our house for the mealworms we put out for the RRs and the thrashers.
Where r u in Texas? You must be kinda near Greg if you got snow?
Brown county, 25 miles from the geographical center of TX. And our snow has still not melted....tomorrow though maybe in the afternoon..meanwhile, the city of Brownwood is closed as are schools. Very unusual.
DeleteP.S. Just saw this. Thought you might be interested in some shots of the home place of the Dukes of Albuquerque. https://katy-ciudadanadelmundo.blogspot.com//
ReplyDeleteDear JudithK,
DeleteThank you for this!
Indeed I AM interested in pictures (and more!) of the Duque's Palace. As you might know, though it's now been decades ago, Albuquerque went through a major identity crisis when someone pointed out the historical spelling included an R in the 2nd syllable preceding the 1st q. As I recall, there was, at the time, a controversy over separation of church & state and they were having to remove the christian cross from the insignia on the state vehicles. Now we might have to change the name of the hub of the universe! I mean, it took me several years to learn how to spell it with only one R. Fortunately, simple minds prevailed and we stayed with the simpler spelling.
Well that's a relief. I have enough trouble with it as it is.
DeleteAnd don't even mention Abiquiui. Or whatever it is.
DeleteAh yes, that hamlet up north by Ghost Ranch.
DeleteI feel confident we Anglos provide a never-ending source of hilarity for the Hispanics and Native Americans. Just the other day someone asked me how to get to Jew-ahn Tay-bo (Juan Tabo). I had to chew on that one for a bit b4 it came to me. 😁
